Pediatric Osteopathy
Pediatric Osteopathy is a specialty that helps the child or baby grow and develop in the best possible health conditions.

When may my child need Pediatric Osteopathy?
- Children born by cesarean section.
- Births with instruments, type spatulas, forceps.
- Very long deliveries.
- If the baby wears cord wraps at birth.
- If it presents a position other than the cephalic (for example, if it is breech). In all these last cases there is a physical aggression, which can make the baby's very elastic tissues become stressed, losing the capacity for elasticity and movement. Osteopathy tries to restore the elasticity and natural movement of the tissues.
- If the mother, during pregnancy, has been medicated, has suffered stress or stimulated with oxytocin for a faster or programmed delivery, she will create a hard plane (her diaphragm) where she will hit the baby hard (less comfortable room) creating secondary tensions.
- If the mother has been in bed for a long time or has maintained absolute rest, there may be a temporary development deficit (ear zone, since it develops with movement). There will tend to be problems with hearing or drainage from the ear (recurrent otitis…).
- In cesarean or very rapid deliveries, the pressure change is very abrupt and the baby does not expect it. Secondary tensions can be created or the baby has become frightened, creating spasm of the diaphragm and a feeling of instability. All these things can have repercussions creating dependency in the child, sleep problems, irritability, constipation problems or other digestive problems ...
- During the growth of the child, any traumatic fall, blow, or emotional shock may also create tensions at the cranial level, diaphragm or other structures, which will affect their growth. Eg. A fall on one knee can cause it to not move correctly and, therefore, the growth of that leg is irregular or less, which can create a lower limb loss (leg longer than the other) and secondary scoliosis.
- A vaccine, a strong infection can also affect the baby's tissue diagram or mobility. If there is no correct mobility, there will not be adequate drainage either (accumulation of mucus, bronchitis, for example).
Indications for Pediatric Osteopathy
- Systematic review of babies born by cesarean section, with the help of instruments, in prolonged or provoked deliveries or if there has been fetal distress. After three weeks of birth.
- Irritable babies, who cry a lot, who don't sleep well.
- Baby colic, constipation, gas, cephalic asymmetries (disproportions, more closed eye), tear duct involvement, torticollis.
- Sinusitis, otitis, recurrent bronchitis.
- Dependent, scary children.
- Vertigo, headaches in children.
- Growing problems.
- Precocious menses.
- Nocturnal urinary incontinence.
- Abnormality, deformity in extremities (knees, hips, feet), joint pain outside the growth peaks.
